Elena RussuElena Russu is originally from Moldova, an exotic country in Eastern Europe. At the age of 9 her Dad noticed her passion for painting and found an art school; Elena finished art school in Chisinau when she was 15 with great grades. Her paintings were in competitions across China and Romania. After the age of 18 Elena followed a Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism. Living in London and seeing original paintings from Mr. Turner, Constables, Van Gogh, Monet and Rothko in museums across London, she was inspired to experiment with different mediums and try to mix them. Her favourite materials are watercolour, oil and soft and oil pastel or even digital illustrations. Elena is always still learning about painting and techniques in different mediums; she has participated in watercolour courses from Alex Hillkurtz, Julia Barminova, Eudes Correia and Anastasia Shimshilashvili. She is creating commercial illustrations for packaging brands and book covers; her recent illustrated book is called '' The Menacing Mystery of Troublesome Town" by Patricia Cecan. Painting in the fresh air captures the emotion of the day. Elena keeps experimenting and finding the true colour of her soul; recently she was commissioned to create a poster for a movie "The World Stripped Bare" with images of important monuments in London. She is organising Sketch and Brunch every 2 months in London (from August 2022) to motivate and inspire people to paint. Elena makes you live the art and live in the moment through her painting; she has studied light and shadow and colours. Most of her work is bright and is a true colour from her pallet. She hopes that a painting can bring the smell of a flower and the atmosphere of that special day. |
