Trevor Chamberlain ROI, RSMATrevor Chamberlain was born in Hertford, the son of a painter and decorator. He began painting at the age of seven and at twelve he enrolled at Ware Evening Institute in painting classes but essentially he taught himself to paint. For some 15 years he embarked on a career in architecture, but has painted professionally since 1964. He spent the whole of 1974 teaching himself how to paint watercolours ("Through sheer perseverance and much experimenting, and careful study of past watercolour artists"). Trevor has travelled widely, painting many parts of the world and has won many awards for his marine, landscape and town paintings. He has published 4 books which feature his oils and watercolours. His work can be seen in many public and private collections, including Guildhall Art Gallery, The National Maritime Museum, Government House Northern Ireland, Hertford Museum, Hertford Town Council, Ware Museum & Winsor & Newton Ltd. He is a Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Wapping Group of Artists and the Chelsea Art Society. |
